Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from the University of Hong Kong’s Bioinformatics Algorithm Research Laboratory, L3 Bioinformatics (L3B) began with a mission to accelerate genomic data analysis and unlock its potential for real-world healthcare impact. What started as a team of five has since grown into a dynamic, interdisciplinary group of experts in bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and clinical data systems—powering the next generation of precision medicine.
Over the years, L3B has expanded its scope from foundational algorithm development to delivering scalable, AI-driven solutions that bridge the gap between research and clinical practice. Our portfolio includes cutting-edge tools like the Clair-series for deep learning-based variant calling, AutoPM3 for automating genomic interpretation, and secure, high-throughput data platforms like Helicube and database.bio. We’ve also built robust infrastructure supporting petabyte-scale data management and secure research environments for sensitive genomic and clinical data.
Today, L3B collaborates with top medical institutions, research groups, and healthcare providers to build integrated, intelligent systems that make complex data analysis faster, safer, and more actionable.
